Drowsy

I'm sure this is relatable

Dazzling lights projected onto my eyes…semblance of words forming within them. Page after page I flicker through as the long hand slowly traverses through its plain of numbers. Lead filled lids tremble as they try to conjoin, but my will strengthens when I flick to the next page: I have to know what comes next.

Night after night this continues, and every morning regret never forgets to pay a visit. Curiosity killed the cat, but curiosity also killed my rest. Anticipation and thrill plastered on every page, only seeming irresistible when I lay my head. My brain sending signals that my will ignores. Collectively, how many hours of sleep did I ignore?

My head bobs and eyes close as I hear the rhythmic clickity-clack. Will I lay my head at the desk? Mouth open and drooling…That’s just grotesque. Never been a drinker, but is it time to “get some wings”? I can try it and see what horrors it brings.
