Drowning

A reflection of sorts

I am lost in the water,

Drowning

In pretty things, flowing things, rivers.

I like the way the water carves holes

Into the mountains.

I like how it makes gullies

Out of the strongest plains.

It is so hungry,

That wanton fluidity.

There is no other language for it

Than that of romance,

That of dance,

That of the flowing things that

Bend the universe over

And take what they will.

It is will, isn't it,

That drives the monster in the river.

It is desire that sways it.

Disgust that deters it.

What is a drowning then

But love making?
