Drench Me in Color

A Poem

I wish I

Were dripping in yellow paint

In sticky sweet caramel

Drenched in hot gooey honey

Caked in toffee

I wish I

Were drowning in the color green

Swimming in algae infested waters

Next to tree frogs and leaf bugs

Rolling in blades of fresh grass

and chewing mint leaves

I wish I

Could wrap myself in purple sheets

with Italian wine to drink

and fresh figs to savor

I wish I

Could dip my toes in red

To look like candy canes

To be the petals of fresh roses

and

and…

bleed poetry

the color of candle wax and

sunsets.

I wish II wish

my blood

were poetry.
