Dreams in the Flow of Life
A Poem on Life's Passing and Continuity
The tides pass away flowing like a stream
A child born into the spring of ages
My life changes vividly and I dream
.
The young man search his place in life and love
Who is watching loving him from above
The tides pass slowly flowing like a stream
.
He lost a few they are ancestral kin
A chill summerday like buds from jasmine
My life changes vividly and I beam
.
Older and richer and older yet poor
Wind and the fall colours rise in a roar
The tides pass away howling like a scream
.
Winter sets in with the coldness at heart
Soon he shall wither and from life depart
My life changes no more and others dream
Above watching haunting trying to see
Forever garding you my child to be
The tide stands still no flowing like a stream
Eternal life changes I stopped my dream
.
As a young man I wanted to have a child. Being gay and a father was not the perfect match at that time, but I tried to get a child together with a lesbian girl. It never succeeded. We were both sad. Later, as I married my husband, we tried to adopt a child. It was not permitted us.
Now this poem is the poem to the son I never had.
