Dreams

If life is a dream, when do we wake?

Some nights I wake in vivid dreams,

lucidly looking to be saved.

Although I know I am asleep,

All I've ever known is to weep.

My heart slowly falls into hollowness,

I really hate this loneliness.

The fear lurks within me.

I can feel wetness on my cheeks,

Yet I feel nothing.

Why can't I wake from this?

The minutes feel like hours,

hours feel like days,

years.

I dream,

I only dream.

And in my waking,

I see myself stiff and cold,

seeing myself with eyes closed.

I dreamt in life,

I woke in death.
