Dreaming

Lifting

Dreaming

Lying awake at night staring at the sky,

Thinking not dreaming while letting worries fester.

Up above is a voice that is listening,

Easing my head, giving me a peace of mind.

My troubles seem so few,

This is the time when I view

The possibilities of lifting, floating, drifting

To a different planet,

Or to a distant star,

Taste the flavors of a different world,

Talk to a different species,

Learn their languages, gestures, mannerisms,

Reach out to a different realm,

Hear the stories of different civilizations that use

Currencies that do not corrupt character,

Hear from people of what they endured,

Why they prevailed in not being misled,

If only

That were possible.

Because my mind landed

Back on Earth.
