Dreaming in words

Lingering sad

By Callie HouseholderPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

Sometimes I dream in words

They scroll across my mind

I read novels in my sleep

When I wake, the words are gone

Vague memories that I was prolific

I keep thinking

If only I could remember

Last night words came with me

Two words like fire burned

~

Lingering Sad

~

I spoke them aloud

I wrote them in a journal

Still they burn

Do I want to know the full story?

Or do I need to tell it?

For once, I didn't forget

Now, I can't forget

Just these two words

I feel them on my heart

Still lingering, still sad

Perhaps I'll try to bring them back

While I sleep and dream tonight

Will this lingering sad go away?

Or are these two words here to stay?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At this point, I feel like these two words are haunting me. I was hoping by writing this a little bit of the hold they have on me would be lessened. Unfortunately, it seems the opposite is true.
Callie Householder
I have been writing since I learned to write. I didn't believe anything I wrote was enough to share. However, I think now that even if only one person can hear me and feel they are not alone, that is enough.
