Dreaming at the End

A poem about the last dream we see.

Hovering above the starsBreathing through a tubeRiding on asteroids like a train carAs the celestial dust billows up and around me

Weightless, I float above it allSighting the place where I felt so smallBut it is now where I was onceAnd I could cup it in the palm of my hands

Or I could crush it to dust

Yet to this place I put my trustThe tides of starlight danceI take a deep breathAnd the galaxies turn, caught in a trance

I could dissolve into nothingLet my skin turn to shimmering lightCaught in the flowFor once I don’t mind taking it slow

Then the sun peeks out from the dark side of the moonAnd I realize that morning is coming too soonThe cord is releasedAnd my breathing is forcibly ceased
