Friend or Foe?

Protector or enemy - which way is it this time?

Dragons have been both ways, in story and rhyme.

Some can breathe fire, with teeth like a knife.

Many have fought them, and most lose their life.

*

With thick, scaly skin and a mastery of flight,

It's a wonder that even the valiant will fight.

Some dragons are passive and live on their own.

If they're hoarding treasure, best leave them alone.

*

Some have been guardians, with humans as friends.

Such an alliance has strong dividends.

No matter what you think of them, dragons fascinate.

In story or poem, dragon tales await.
