Downcast Eyes

I wanted to wait to share work this dismal, but I never listen to myself.

My lifeline is getting shorter and shorter

One of these nights will be the last for me

But you're having the time of your life

I wish I could absorb this from you

The light at the end is getting bigger

Reality feels like a dream of former me

When the light is all around,

darkness will melt it's way in

I'll only be seeing black from my casket

The black doesn't scare me

It's got to be better

than the color around me now
