Down the Hole

The hole is deep and eventually all my hopes and dreams go there.

Where has the money gone?

Down the hole!

Down the hole!

***

Where has my love gone?

Down the hole!

Down the hole!

***

Where have all my plans gone?

Down the hole!

Down the hole!

***

All my hopes and dreams,

all my work and toil,

all go down the hole

she helped to dig.

***

Now, I’m broke.

Now, I’m sick

and losing hope.

***

She put me in a hole

with reckless intent

***

I warned.

I begged.

***

But her pockets had holes,

deep enough to never save,

deep enough to sink the dime.

***

She never saved.

She never stopped.

***

And now my life

slips away

down the hole

she made.

Down the hole

where love stays.

***

Now, I’m with her.

Down the hole!

Down the hole!
