DOUGHNUTS IN MY HEAD

Doughnuts in my head tonight,
spinning round in yellow light,
thoughts are dripping down the wall,
I cannot catch them all.

Purple dreams begin to bend,
twisting where the colours end,
red goes racing into blue,
and green forgets what green should do.

Black lines crawl across my mind,
leaving normal thoughts behind,
every shape begins to shout,
trying hard to wriggle out.

One small doughnut lost its way,
rolled inside my brain all day,
another sat behind my eye,
watching silly dreams go by.

My head is never neat and still,
it dances simply where it will,
ideas tumble, jump and spin,
before another one gets in.

Perhaps my mind is upside down,
wearing colours like a crown,
perhaps the strange is where I fit,
and ordinary isn’t it.

I see a face that isn’t there,
a crooked smile inside the air,
a little monster, maybe two,
hiding underneath the blue.

So let the doughnuts roll around,
let crazy colours make their sound,
I’d rather have this noisy view,
than paint my thoughts in boring blue.

My mind may wander off the track,
but somehow it keeps coming back,
bringing stories strange and bright,
that wake me in the middle of night.

So if you ask what’s in my head,
don’t expect calm thoughts instead,
there’s colour, chaos, dreams and art—
and doughnuts dancing through my heart. ❤️
