Double Vision

Those Eyes

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
Top Story - June 2026

Those eyes see me for what I am

Furies' empty sockets' intent

Seizing me, come what may

Circling their prey, circumvent

.

Those eyes saw what I did and when

But when is where I erred so grave

They burn right through me, poker-hot

Cauterizing the fetid pock I save

.

Those eyes watch me as I go

On my fitful way, nonplussed

From being watched so cruelly hence

Now that I've been sussed

.

They follow, pursue, and buy purchase

With hooks, as be, toothed talons

To spin me 'round, eye-to-eye, but still won't blink

My soul betrothed to orphans

.

Once they've seen all they need

To grade me what I am

They'll look for you tomorrow, too

To join me among the damned
