Doors

A late submission in which my heart over pours and I stain the carpet by Joniey Rono

Light cracks the clock

Gold ribbons wrap around my hand

Seconds on my fingertips

I am at the edge of the beginning

and the end

The same door

-

Stuck in space

My moon boots are ticking time bombs

My heart beats for solid ground

Wet dirt and bird chirps

Yellow tulips at sunrise

From moon rock and stardust,

A red door emerges

-

Surrounded by fog

A thick gray, warm clouds slowly stirring

I rise from rock

My boots slip off my feet like water from my skin

The door opens

And I am Surrounded by light

I hold seconds in my body like lightning bugs in a jar

I exhale and let them out

I live with the time I have now

Ever-fleeting like the light of golden bugs in my belly

I collect the moments as a form of love

We move through time with fear in our chest and intention in our toolbelt

A little rattlesnake ribcage that will settle with softness, and a spirit that may up root mountains

Ever-shifting bodies of flesh and red ribbon tied together with tenderness

and a need for something more

I can’t help but chase shooting stars

and open doors

surreal poetry

About the Creator

Joniey Rono

They/Them

I am an experience wrapped in flesh and red ribbon. I do not have enough space and so I write. I choose to collect joy and move through pain, so I write. I am a queer, non-binary, autistic being who enjoys dreaming and creating.
