DOODLE ME A DOODLE
Doodle me a doodle,
I whispered to my pen,
It drew a door with seven locks,
Then rubbed them out again.
It drew a worm in football boots,
A fish upon a bike,
A purple cow with feathered wings,
Who looked a bit like Mike.
The worm kicked off the full stops,
The fish rode through my tea,
The cow flew round the lampshade,
Then landed on my knee.
My pen drew stairs across the page,
That climbed into the air,
A stick man wearing bloomers,
Was tap-dancing up there.
The sun fell in my teacup,
The moon rolled down the hall,
The stick man caught it in his hat,
Then bounced it like a ball.
The doodle took my pencil,
And drew another sheet,
That paper drew a second world,
With ears instead of feet.
The pages spread across the room,
Then underneath the door,
They covered up the garden,
And asked to doodle more.
I tried to find my rubber,
But someone rubbed it out,
The fish had drawn a thunderstorm,
The worm began to shout.
The doodle drew me on the page,
Then trapped me in a chair,
It crossed out every doorway,
And left me sitting there.
So if you read this little poem,
Please help me if you can,
Doodle me a doodle door,
And draw me out again.
