Today was the day

That I left you alone,

I can see you sitting there

Hoping I'll phone.

***

I'm so sorry baby

I really am,

But I'm hoping it's for a short time

Because you're a wonderful man.

***

When I left you this morning

There were tears in my eyes,

And my voice was so choked

I couldn't say my goodbyes.

***

I hope you understand

It's something I had to do,

Because what's happening to me

Has got me so confused.

***

My minds all mixed up

And my feelings are crazy,

The love I hold for you

Has gone very hazy.

***

But baby I still care

So please don't forget,

I'll be back if I can

So please don't fret.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
