Don't Ever Taunt A Dragon, Child

Bedtime Story

Don't ever taunt a dragon, child,

for he will take it ill.

If you hear scales a-slithering

be sure to hold quite still!

For pixies ~ they will haunt you

and fairies cast a spell.

The Leprechaun will soon be gone

if you but treat him well.

But never taunt a dragon, child,

for he will haunt your dreams.

And none will dare to save you

when they hear your frightened screams.

The ghoulies and the gobble-uns

will ever give you fright,

and Bogey-Man will crawl from underneath

your bed at night.

But never taunt a dragon, child,

whatever you may do.

Oh, danger dire ~ with breath like fire

and raking talons, too!

The ghosties, they will tease you

from behind the closet door.

The imps will pinch and ogres rage

and elves will steal you poor.

But never taunt a dragon, child.

Please listen when I say

that if you taunt a dragon

it will carry you away!
