Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk!
A Tale of a Crippling Inner War with Anxiety

Swirling, dizzy with panic,
A searing wave of heat crashes around me
Crying on the inside filled with fear.
Tell myself it will be okay,
A voice deep within whispers; "you lie"
Louder and louder the voice calls to me,
"Weakling you can't handle this, you destroy everything you touch"
Staring motionless the broken glass lay at my feet,
I hang my head and respond to the menacing voice, "it's true"
A second wave of despair steals the breath from my lungs
My world is spinning faster and faster out of control
"You are a terrible excuse for a person" the voice speaks again
Mocking continues on this carousel of pain and confusion,
"You would be better off dead" the voice laughs
Clutching my chest I fall to the ground
For a moment the world is still, silent, and numb
Another voice speaks up from within the shadows,
Wrapping me in a blanket of strength,
Anxiety will not win today, I will always find a way to fight back.
