It does not linger where shadows fall,

Nor find its voice in echoes small.

It does not dwell on paths untried,

Nor chase the dreams that drift aside.

It does not bend to fleeting whims,

It does not fade with passing time,

Nor lose its worth to reason’s rhyme.

It does not fear the winds of change,

Or stay confined in comfort’s range.

It does not fail to mark its place,

In quiet strength and steady grace.

For what it is, the heart does know,

Elegy
