At five,

I wanted

to be a doctor of dinosaurs

to treat those ailing monsters.

But I took

a trip

to the museum by the Coliseum.

There,

to my horror,

I saw my terrible lizards that left me with no words.

All bone

with nuts and bolts

to hold, I was told.

They stood

still,

poised,

looking ferocious to curious tourists

who gawked

in awe.

I couldn't

hold my tears.

I couldn't

stand my ground.

I fled the room full of bones and bolts,

realizing

I was too late,

dinosaurs didn't need doctors.

And thus,

that day

I didn't want to be a doctor for these monsters

who roamed

for so

long

and been gone

for far

too

long.
