Do you Suffer for your Art?

To live well

By Mark Stigers Published 5 months ago • 1 min read

Living well’s an art form

That’s the masterpiece I chase

Not a statue in a garden

Or a picture in a place

When the gallery is empty

And the critics all depart

Dry Ice leaves behind a life

And calls that his greatest art

I ain’t chiseling David

I ain’t painting the sky

I’m learning to be kinder

As the years go rolling by

Some folks chase forever

Trying to make their mark

Dry Ice just wants to leave this world

A little less dark

Trying to catch a moment

Before it fades from sight

And leave a little record

That I was here tonight

I ain’t writing War and Peace

I ain’t singing songs on high

I’m just a poet making notes

As the years go rolling by
