Do You Remember the Days of Slavery?

The Trauma Lingers On!

Had to find a way to protect my sanity

Other than my 3 months of therapy...

Many times I thought I would've gone mad!

Many years lived isolated...

Feeling nothing short of sad!

It's clear many were trying to break me

Reminds me of the days of slavery!

Who could I trust?

Survival and Free Reign a must!

Mental...Emotional...Sexual Abuse...Victimized...Oppressed...

No protection...cycle of affliction!

Ignored and abandoned as I navigate my way

Out of the belly of the beast

Generational Bondage!

Mentally held hostage!

Had to find a way to remove the thorns and that crown...

Bleeding inside...

like Crucified!

What was my crime? Time will tell...

I've got to find a way out of this hell...

Was it because I'm female or was it the colour of my skin?

Why I was treated as if I was the one who'd committed a sin?

This poem was taken from my Poetic Memoirs Book 1, written while in lockdown April 2020...soon to be published!
