A poem

You unearthed me

Broke me up

Thought you were breathing life into me

Instead oxidized my insides

Exposed me to the elements.

Verdant and whole

You remain

Untouched

Unfazed

Unchanged.

How do we divide these unequal bounties?

No green from you could cover the damage done

No waters could quench this soiled soul

No home could house the petulant pain

But what you didn't know

Is that you prepared me

For what comes next.

My soul is lush

She grows

More than your grassy façade could ever

Your toiling and tilling

Cultivated a vivid vermillion

Your greatest villain

Unearthed an unexpected umber

Before only witnessed in slumber

Exposed a promising hue

That won't need anything from you.
