Feet shuffling step by step
Lights flashing green and red
Cars speeding like they’ve fled
Cogs of life until we’re dead.
The air conditioner hissing quiet
Constant beeping feeds disquiet
Occasional panic and riot
A typical day here
Dreams of watching them grow
While laying, can’t even show
Breathing slowly through straw
Can’t even fathom
I try to move a damn finger to catch their attention, but I can’t even tension my muscles atrophied, it’s wrenching.
Hoping a light will invade the darkness I’ve been seeing. Hoping a knight will abate this feeling that’s been seeping. Hoping that I can break out this prison
I am seething…
Alas, I’m motionless and weeping.
Metaphorically
because the tears won’t come
Can’t feel my face or rump
but can hear things like pumps
in the background like static that’s keeping me static
Emphatic to try and get back to classic walks on the beach
ice creams and the breeze
standing up and sitting with ease…
But to this world I am static.
