DISHWASHER/PANTRY COOK

Hope you enjoyed your meal on a clean plate

By Michael ButorovichPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

Some days are better than others.

There are times where I can walk in

Happy and take off my shirt to put

A chef coat on, leave my knives at

The dishpit, deliver my street clothes

To the locked down stairs and take

The elevator back up to the kitchen

And kick the shit out of the dishes.

{

There are those occasions where

Although it feels like I’m at war I

Can complete every ticket with a

Salad and sigh in relief.

{

Then comes the moments where I feel

I can’t hang – this is too much stress

For a single person to handle.

I can take the heat but it’s going

To boil me alive one of these nights.

{

Unless you’re Sous or Executive,

Kitchen people are under paid for

All the blood, sweat and when it

Breaks down to it – tears – when it

Comes to serving other people.

{

The sacrifice is giving ourselves to

Keep the others satisfied.

That’s the constant kitchen life.

{

Hope you enjoyed your meal on a

Clean plate.
