Dreams of Pyrelight

By Veronica ColdironPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Humble dirge;

Black refrain,

Resounding solemn

Through sheets of rain,

From swells

Of aching hearts

Through crowds of us…

Regretful, depart.

And I am alone,

No hand to clasp,

Not even a whisper

Within my grasp.

A tide laps

Somber throngs.

Unwilling, unhappy,

We move along.

Grim departing

Sinking low,

As does my weary,

Woeful soul.

And within

The pyre light there lies,

A memory,

Some death: some life

A moving fear,

A wounding knife,

And man evolves…

Pain’s a friend

Rewriting lives,

From start to end

I like the pace and flow. It is weighty but with room to breathe.
