Something about coming home always feels like dying
Less of a rebirth than a regression
Finding myself back in parts of myself I forgot
Less of a retreat than a confession
Hiding from the version of me
Face down on the basement floor
Overwhelmed but wanting more
Tired of repeating stories I may never have fit in
Every time I turn a page I find a thicker wall
Yet another monster to keep caged in
I forgot the plot to my own memoires
Motherhood too red to rest my head in
I thought I could alchemize our battle scars
Into something that was worth remembering
Making sense of chaos theory
Only to be called a fool
Maybe I'm the one to blame
For believing that I left my heart back here with her
Each time I turn back I feel it step outside of me
To sit by the window waiting for me to return
