Differently the Same

A limerick testament to UK homes

Solid and spacious with bricks and mortar

A maze of pipes with running water

Get heat through gas

And electric en masse

Each occupant retreats to their own living quarter

**

Neighbours each side, above, and below

Constant complaints the lift’s broke or too slow

But up in the sky

Where you’re all piled high

The view is the ultimate show

**

Unsettled and no fixed abode

When you pack up and head for the road

Off over the hills

Saving on bills

Minimal living with a minimal load

**

More land than you could ever need

Rural peace the real value you heed

Humanity far away

Only nature here to stay

Simplicity without any greed

**

All of these form a unique dwelling

Boundaries of a home we end up selling

We’re lucky if we die there

Surrounded by family who care

Leaving a legacy of generational storytelling
