Did you ever see it?

A Rainbow in the Dark

Do you see the rainbow in the dark

Within the blackened void?

Within the hidden northern light

It shines a light so pure and bright

For those who know where to go.

Do you see the staggered, scarlet,

Her passion slowly burning?

Glinting, gleaming, still receding

Hard to share the world she’s dreaming

With a dagger at her back.

Do you see the orange glow

Fighting fast against starburnt chains?

An anarchist, she reaches forth,

Breaking free she sends her warmth

The warmth she wants to share.

Do you see the sunbright yellow

Dancing stardust upon a stagnant breeze?

Shining skies through smiling eyes

Masked and masking vital lies

To all but those who’ve earned their seat.

Do you see good fortune’s green

With time for life allowed?

Passing freedom, heaven sent

Safe, trapped within this moment

As she, as they, enjoy this day.

Do you see the blue in crackling arcs

As lightning shatters through?

The ripples grow, yearning to warn

We are the calm before the storm.

Brace yourself, we’ll make it through.

Do you see the indigo chain,

Her ring of harsh devotion?

Steady on, the time draws near

For half a heart to disappear

Into the infinite expanse,

Laid dormant in the void.

Do you see the violet curve,

Her true loves everlasting?

Patterned by all starstrung charts

Prolonged the beats of broken hearts

With no right left to mend it.

They linger in one unsung song,

To those apart remains unknown

Until the song has ended.

Foretold it was, for here it be

It must be changed, this much they see

The song can not be ended.

Do you see the rainbow in the dark

Within the blackened void?

Within the blinding northern light

It shines a light so pure and bright

For those who know where to go.
