Did You Ever
Did you ever ask yourself what life is meant to be,
When the night sits heavy and the hours feel unkind,
When every path you choose seems marked with tears,
when the truth you search for slips just out of mind.
Did you ever stand still and wonder why we’re here,
Why the world keeps spinning through sorrow and rain,
Why hearts are asked to carry so much weight,
As if we were born to cradle someone else’s pain.
Did you ever think this place feels close to hell,
Where evil walks freely through broken streets,
Where loss becomes a language we learn too early,
And wickedness waits for the softest heart to meet.
Did you ever feel the cold of life’s sharp edges,
The kind that steals the warmth from every breath,
The way the days can crush even the bravest spirit,
Leaving you staring at the thin line between living and death.
Did you ever look for heaven inside the mess,
Hoping for a window where no window stands,
Hoping for comfort from a world that offers none,
And finding only silence cupped inside your hands.
Did you ever whisper questions into the dark,
Not for answers, just for someone to hear,
Because the truth is this place feels far from heaven,
it seems you’re left carrying everything, year after year.
Did you ever feel that life wasn’t what we were promised,
That something sacred slipped away before we began,
Yet still you walk on, heart bruised but beating,
Trying to believe there’s meaning somewhere in this land.
