A Poem of How I Tried to Find Solace in Chaos

I used to float between the realms of fiction and reality

Not knowing who I was and searching for what I wanted to be

When I was reading I was free

unchained from people's perceptions of me

Magic, love, adventure, action, folklore

and more I drank in

character's wins felt like my own

and I'd known from a young age

I needed to engage with these worlds

Pencil to paper stories swirled across pages

of mages, mischief, and mayhem

I made them as I wanted to be

Beautiful brilliant bold

So unlike me

Scenarios so unlikely

to blind me to the pain

that remained when the pencil

paper and books were put away

and the shame of knowing that I could not

Be them
