I want to believe that all of us are desperately trying our best to be human.

As you read this you are living on a tiny blue planet. A tiny mark on the planet earth. You are one in billions and yet you matter. Let that sink in! Read the following with an open mind letting go of all that you have downloaded during your lifetime. Open your heart.

Lately the world is tugging heavily on my heart. I tell myself it is a dose of caregiver burnout. I fill up my cup and search for the good that is in all people. I did deep. I read my favorite writers for a dose of inspiration and I watch from a distance as humans destroy each other. I scroll and read and my heart becomes heavy.

War and human suffering is not a new story here on earth. We fight for ridiculous reasons knowing that wars and genocide are devastating to the entire human race. Yet humans fight. We battle the seen and the unseen and take sides and validate our human experience and suffering with vengeance greed and the slaughter of the innocents.

What does it mean to be human? We are meant to be a step above the evolutionary chain and yet we are still animals at best. All fighting for survival of a species yet we do have a conscious do we not? Do we have intellect and the power to discern and learn? If so why do we do the same things again again struggling in the same ways. Why do we wage war against other humans and denying others human rights?

There is no answer is there?

Humans are meant to be humane after all aren't we?

So yeah, I do believe that we are all desperately trying our best to be human and we will continue this as we journey here on earth. I asked you to open your heart and mind remember? What is that all about? Well, I want you to reflect on your own humanity and the best characteristics of humanity.

Next time you are struggling to forgive, have compassion and love remember all humans come into this world the same way and we humans literally came from the same place on this blue planet. The ingredients to human life are basic and yet somehow we have learned to complicate it all.

We can't heal others or the world. I have tried and so have others. What we can do is let go of the lies and the stories that we fabricate and justify. We can start with ourself. We can start with compassion and forgiveness and love. We can wake up each day and try to be human and embody the tenets of love.

We will only evolve once we treat all humans as humans .

Today and tonight wherever you are may you find peace and sleep with a heart that is unburdened and full of love.

This comes from a frail poetic heart and yet this heart remain open.

Amen.
