The desert does not forget the rain

For it penetrated deeply

Quenching her thirst

Sating with silken liquid

.

The desert does not forget the rain

For it also drowned her

Washing away

Precious forms of life

.

The desert does not forget the rain

For it restored her memory

Before it came

She was a mountain

This was so deep! Someone comes into our lives and gives us the love that we've been wanting. Then they also drown us in sorrow. We may have stood strong like a mountain but they manage to break us down. And then they leave because it cannot rain forever. Like Brenton asked, does the desert forgive the rain?

That last verse got me! Grief and gratitude can be so intertwined in our memory. Lovely work.
