You were found
Broken, neglected
And pregnant
On the steps
Of a women's health clinic
If that wasn't irony
I don't know what was
I brought you home
I vowed no one would ever
Ever hurt you again
But you wouldn't come to me
You hid in a corner
Scared and trembling
But you were safe
I bought you the best food I could
Gave you toys I made with my own hands
I spoke to you softly and gave you a name
I thought was as pretty as you
Sometimes I sang to you
The song your name came from
You hated it
Like the grumpy cat you were
But soon your trembling
Became purring
You came out of your little corner
You trusted
I cried when you crawled into my lap
There is no feeling more beautiful
Than being trusted by a small creature
Who had been previously hurt
By someone the same species as me
Over time, you became my best friend
You were moody, chubby, cute, sweet
Just like me
I had more in common with you
Than most humans
My pillow became yours
I was honoured when you
Graciously allowed me to share it
You followed me to the loo
You sprawled on my keyboard
While I tried to write
You demanded that I allow you
To sleep directly on top of my head
You became my constant companion
We went through so much together
I helped you give birth
To your only son, Sampson
I allowed you outside just that one time
While we commited his tiny body to the earth
I gently nursed you back to health
When you were so very ill
That I thought I might lose you
I guided you through the anxiety
Of meeting your new cat sister, Athena
But you were there for me
In so many more ways
You soothed away my sadness
And my anxiety
You calmed me when I was angry
Like no one else could
You were there for me
On my darkest days
Sometimes when no one else was
And in those times
I was convinced
That some angels choose fur
Instead of wings

I like to write, if that makes me a writer, then rock on!
I started writing as a child because I ran out of stuff to read. So, I only write stuff that I like. If you like it too, awesome! Enjoy! ^_^
