Dedan Kimathi rose up,
Fiercely he did stand,
Against the British oppressor,
In Kenya's beautiful land.
He fought for freedom,
For justice and for peace,
Rallying his people,
Their oppression to release.
With forests as his fortress,
And the Mau Mau by his side,
He waged a brave resistance,
Against the British divide.
For years he struggled,
Against a powerful foe,
But he never gave up,
In his quest for freedom to bestow.
He became a symbol,
Of determination and might,
To all who sought liberation,
In a world of wrong and right.
Though his body may be gone,
His legacy reigns supreme,
Dedan Kimathi, a hero,
In Kenya's history we esteem.
