I've burned the doormat that said Welcome to My Home
Take your boots and the monster that fills them
To another door
Fill their home with your wicked intentions
Your beautiful smile
Your words that twist the mind
Give them your securely deviated hugs
Touch them with your hard-working but soft hands--
That CHOKE
I teetered on the edge of hate and disdain for you
As you used clever words to regain my trust again and again
Now someone else will awaken through the night to your horrors
And you will shower them with the dream of a future together
Detailing the house you'll build on a secretly broken foundation of love
You will give them whatever they desire
While slowly and quietly taking from them their needs to survive and function as a human being
You cripple the minds, souls, and hearts of everyone you meet with your demons
Yet, somehow you leave us to wonder if you're our Saviour
And when this is all done
And there's nothing more
You EXIT
...and find the next victim
We awake in the morning screaming through tears
Because you ghosted us
You leave us in despair, suffocating for air
Grasping to what little we have left
And forever now we will wonder--were you ever really there or just a beautiful monster in our DREAMS.
