Soul Soothing Journey

Numb and cold was my soul as I went to work that day. Sitting in my car and waiting, I had no words to say. I didn’t want to face the world, as much as I loved everyone. Instead, I wanted to hide away and never see the sun. It doesn’t usually shine light on me, it’s either hidden or burning me so. I wish I could live like others, as if the sun is a loving friend instead of a hurtful foe.

I slowly close my eyes and gently breathe out a prayer — for God to infuse me with his wisdom, love, and care.

I opened my eyes as shivers covered my entire body. I found myself sitting on a bench in a park covered with snow. I did feel a chill, but I wasn’t that much cold. It was rather soothing. I looked around and saw no other being. It was quiet and peaceful. So quiet, in fact, that I could hear the snowflakes landing amongst the ground.

So beautiful to see something I’d only seen in my dreams. Red roses, yellow tulips, purple Lilies, and blue hydrangeas grew beautifully right through the inches of snow. The trees were also very much alive, giving life to the leaves, fruits, and flowers on the branches.

The scent of peppermint and cinnamon suddenly swept under my nose. I looked beside myself on the bench to see a cup of tea with steam flowing into the air. I picked up the warm cup and again inhaled the aroma. It was warm and soothing all around. The first sip I took rivered through my body as if to liven up my veins.

I now found myself smiling. My soul was once again alive.

I then heard the wind pick up and the sight before me was ever so enchanting. The snowflakes were gathering as if the wind were its creator. Beings made of snowflake crystals were forming before my very eyes.

One of them, looked like a wolf and eagle in one, walked up to me and extended its human-like hand to which it asked me to dance.

Suddenly, butterflies of all sizes and colors, some even as big as I, came flying through. They joined the dance that the crystal beings and the flowers were having.

As we dipped and smiled, spun and laughed, I wondered where the music was coming from. The eagle-wolf crystalized being seemed to know what I was thinking. He stopped our dance and with a gentle smile —he pointed directly to my heart.

“Me? I’m creating this song?” I asked him. To which he nodded in agreement and began to say,

“This song, the lyrics, this dance, this place. You, my dear, are a creator of grace. You’re a creator of beauty, a creator of peace, a creator of anything that you please. You’re the one that gives us life — without your spirit we wouldn’t survive. You are the snow, the flowers, the trees — you are the crystals, the butterflies, the breeze. Without poetry, without words, without creativity — well, what a mediocre world we’d be. Create from the soul within and create your very sun. Because life is about creating, whether for you or for everyone — and don’t let the lack of sun or sight numb your soul to the darkest of night — because even when you’re unseen in darkness, your creations shine a light.”
