Decay

after you're gone

I sit at the edge of the room

Faded voices, laughter

I used to join in

That was before, this is after

After, the split between

Then and now

I can’t put my finger on it

But I know it’s there somehow

The recliner in the corner

The tv that never plays

The quiet that chokes the air

On warm and sunny days

There is not hammer banging

There is not a power saw

There is not a shovel in the snow

There’s not a path that thaws

Everything gets broken

There’s no one to repair

So I joined the damaged home

Fall apart without you there
