Death of a Friend

A Moment Unnoticed

Lost hope.

When you stop seeing beyond the faults, when the salt burns the reopened wounds.

When the lies and darkness resurface, there's this question you ask yourself...

Well no, your brain comprehends it, your heart doesn't.

Each pulse is a replay of segmented reality.

Each beat breaks against the waves.

Each crack, every eye roll, when you realize that you are not enough. When you realize you're a pawn in the frail ego.

A respite.

For them.

They will try to break your spirit for the sake of their own life, their own perspective.

Their own unloved self.

Because to tear another down requires them to gaslight your reality to make sense of fractures within themselves.

They call their abuse love and for your own good.

A way to fix you.

Remember you are better than that.

Remember that you are not broken.

Remember that you need not be defined by the lost self of another.

To ply yourself with substance to numb your own frail existence is a weakness you can no longer afford.

Your worth is not defined by those you chose to let in.

Your worth is found within yourself.

Your heart may break a thousand time.

Your will may shatter, it may falter but you cannot let them win.
