Dear Diary

 \\//\\

 Dear Diary,

I can’t seem to shake this feeling, it’s so heavy on my mind.

I know that people tell me, it all will pass in time.

For now, I am in limbo, my soul an empty shell.

My tears are uncontrollable; I feel like I’m in hell.

 /\/\

What can I do to lift me up from the depths of misery?

I know there must be comfort, but through the tears, I cannot see.

My mother’s gone to heaven. In my heart, I know she’s there.

I wish that I could say once more, how very much I care.

 \/\/\/

I sat at my computer, trying to pass time.

Maybe if I write a bit, the words might ease my mind.

What to write, or how to feel? I know this sounds absurd.

My mind is blank and I can’t think. There’s not a single word.

 \/\/\/

It started with a blank page, like the feeling in my heart

The day my mother passed away; it ripped my world apart.

As I recalled each memory through the tears that filled my eyes,

The page began to gather words, much to my surprise.

 /\/\/\/

 I found a certain comfort as I read the words aloud;

A poem about my mother! Now wouldn’t she be proud!

I remember how she’d always smile at things that I’d do right.

I always found a comfort when she’d kiss my cheek each night.

 /\/\/\

The day she came to spend some time and hold her grandson near

Was the day I thought her face would crack as she smiled from ear to ear.

There are so many memories – enough to fill a book:

Her smile, her tears, her laughter, the way she used to look.

 /\/\/\

I know she’s always with me and shall forever be,

So dear diary, I’ll close this book and kiss this page

In honor of mom’s memory.
