Days go by like some sad slow river finding its mother sea
I sit here thinking about lost love, wondering if you'll ever find me
States and cities and empires and countries, I'm in them all, waiting
Toward the edge of night, I conjured your secret and holy memory
Reality is not enough for us, we need these trivial illusive dreams
Allow these fragile little seeds to grow roots and become mighty trees
Canaries in a cosmic coal mine only die because they can't breathe
Time brings the end (old age and certain death), yet, it is not your enemy
Immortality is for the Gods, why should we mortals want such idle things
Onward we go, on this great and lonely road, and the Truth is who we meet
Now, we finally know, that life's many distractions were sacred blessings
