Daydream's Escape

Voices ring across the open spaces,

Bright melodies, sounding and resonate

Upon the breath of the wind’s embraces,

To take me away to where dreams await.

The eyes in my mind can see them clearly,

Their warm tanned skin, and sweet, innocent smiles.

Friends of my youth that once I loved dearly

From way back when, across years, across miles.

I lazily drift to that carefree time

To play and laugh without reason or thought.

The journey is brief but oh, so sublime,

Yet teases so subtly of memories brought.

Sadly I mourn a vision departed.

Daydream’s escape…quick pleasure imparted.
