A Poem About Figurative Darkness

Darkness-
It's more than the absence of light;
It alludes to difficult experiences in life-
Emptiness, sin, depression, death
These can make you feel trapped, surrounded
As if you will never see the light again
All you have to hold onto,
All that gives you hope
Is the knowledge that the sun always rises;
That the light always returns
But if there were no darkness,
How special would the light be?
How special would the good days, great memories, and special people be?
Darkness reveals the stars
Darkness exposes the milky way-
Each invisible without darkness
We need to experience darkness to truly appreciate light.
