Dark Tunnel

Claw Your Way Out...

The light at the end of the tunnel...

The light at the end of the tunnel...

Is just that, light

The shape of the tunnel is unfamiliar

And the light shifts

As the clouds pass between the Earth and sun

Or the Earth rotates on its axis

Or the moon phases out

You distrust your eyes

Your knowledge suspended

As your screams echo back

Without answer

You begin bouncing off the walls

Looking for the RIGHT way out

Finally believing deeper is the way to go

Digging so deep the light is no longer visible

The darkness now swallows you whole

Your questions start echoing back as answers

Garbled even further due to all the new angles

Even from within the hole

You are the answer

You cannot see

But the canary no longer chirps

Because his warning went unheeded
