Dark the Eyes at Midnight

Watching yet seeing only what they want.

Dark the Eyes at Midnight

Dark the eyes that watch at midnight,

silent as the river’s pull.

Fixed upon the drifting world,

where every secret slows.

Dark the eyes that wait at midnight,

heavier than stone unturned.

Hungering for what is lost,

yet never claimed by name.

Dark the eyes that burn at midnight,

kindled in a hollow breath.

They follow where the shadows lean,

and linger where the heart won’t go.

Dark the eyes that watch at midnight,

know the weight of hidden doors.

They press against the brittle hour,

until the hour breaks.

Dark the eyes that speak at midnight,

without a voice to show their truth.

They whisper through the walls of sleep,

and bend the dream to ash.

Dark the eyes that reign at midnight,

hold the silence like a crown.

They are the last unbroken flame,

in corridors of night.

Dark the eyes that call at midnight,

drawing souls toward their gaze.

They carry sorrow’s oldest hymn,

and bind the world in stillness.

Dark the eyes that rest at midnight,

yet never drift to peace.

They guard the hours no one owns,

and vanish with the dawn.
