Afraid of getting hurt, she keeps her heart at bay
Drowning in fear, that history would repeat itself
Daring not to hope, for love to be sweet or kind
Yearning for affection, but fearing rejection
Insecurity, her shield against any connection
Secretly wishing, for someone to see and reach out to her
Suffocating emotions have held her bound for years
Underlying trauma always bubbling behind the background
Enduring the struggle, of feeling unworthy, unwanted
Striving for healing and failing, for trust and letting go
