Dancing in a fog

Releasing my current state of mind

I feel like I am dancing in a fog,

a dance I used to know,

but the steps slip away,

the tune half-remembered,

out of reach.

Perhaps the melody has changed,

updated without me,

whilst I was busy mourning,

busy grieving,

busy crying,

busy counting the countless

mistakes I could not undo.

I grew smaller each day,

more fragile,

as though alive yet not living,

hidden in a cave

where light no longer reached,

where time spoke only of loss.

What happened to me?

How did the music fade?

Will I ever emerge from this fog

to move freely again,

to find the rhythm I once knew,

to let the world

be bright with my song?
