Dance with Demons

And the Magic Man's Hope

By Nicholas GoodmanPublished 9 years ago 1 min read

I know I dance with my demons for pleasure's sake

But I pray that doesn't take away the magic man's marvelous moves

I have abused myself in more ways than one

The fun that begun with this wondrous run to catch the sun

Would soon become undone

We saw temples of turquoise and heroic hieroglyphs

Monumental shifts in our seats of perception

Psychedelic wonder and a turn in direction

We ached for perfection

Knowing we tasted its sweet flavor

And that one moment our minds would savor

For an endless aeon

But come on

My friends would jest

Surely this seeking you must protest

For your best would be better sent to rest

And they laughed as I traveled off to the west

In search of the sun, and the gifts it's blessed
