Curious

Finding Colour

By Stephen DoppPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I always told myself to find colour

To try to engage

But I’ve found myself in a deep, dark curiosity that pulls like a tide - gentle, then all at once tempestuous

This place is cool and sapphire

With tractor beams rippling from the moon down to my sunken eyes that are permanently searching for refraction

It is the only place I haven’t lost my teeth; They are small and unremarkably shaped, but down here they fulfill their obligations to my veracious speech patterns with impunity

Everywhere else they were a conduit for a voice that wasn’t mine, bubbling in silence, paranoid from lack of oxygen with vibrations only I could register

Rescue torches on the wooded shores flicker like faulty wiring, pleading for catharsis

But I am a drowner

And I’m already gone
