Crimson Calligraphy
lyric

(Verse 1)
Little Tara Jean kept to a world of her own
In her OshKosh overalls and a cold house called home
But her favorite toy was a crayon, waxy and crimson red
"Don’t you mark those walls," was all Mama said
But Tara just couldn’t help but leave a trace
Of childhood dreams in a forbidden place
Cleaning and scrubbing was a full-time task
But the crimson kept bleeding ...
No questions asked
(Chorus)
Crimson calligraphy covered the walls
A little girl’s joy in lonely halls
Tara was making her mark, she was finding her way
In a bright red line that was destined to stay
Crimson calligraphy...
Crimson calligraphy...
Oh..... Crimson calligraphy...
(Verse 2)
Her childhood years soon turned to dust and Tara Jean grew tall
But she still liked to write on plaster walls
Not with a crayon, but a birthday gift
A Dior Rouge lipstick meant to heal the rift
"Good-bye for good," the lipstick screamed
A jagged end to the life she once dreamed
No more forgiving... no more gin
Just scarlet words for where she’d been.
(Chorus)
Crimson calligraphy covered the walls
A young woman's despair in lonely halls
Tara was making her mark, she was finding her way
In a bright red line that was destined to stay
Crimson calligraphy...
Crimson calligraphy...
Oh..... Crimson calligraphy...
(Bridge)
The smell of sulphur from a cheap pawnshop buy
At sixty-two, Tara Jean was too tired to cry
A lifetime of trying, a lifetime of tears
She finally silenced all of her fears
An explosive sound, the final boom
Then a heavy silence hung in her living room.
(Verse 3)
The promise of nothing, the beauty of peace
A splattered ending and a final release
The cleaners will come and they’ll paint over it in white
To hide the horror of that desperate night
But for one last moment, the art was hers
Before the memory of her fades and blurs.
(Chorus)
Crimson calligraphy covered the walls
An old woman's ending in lonely halls
Tara was making her mark, she was finding her way
In a bright red line that was destined to stay
Crimson calligraphy...
Crimson calligraphy...
Oh..... Crimson calligraphy...
